Helpful Tips for choosing paint!



1. Where is the room?

2. How many windows are there and which direction do they face?

3. Is there landscaping outside that will have an effect on the colors in the room?

4. Who will use the room, and what will they do there? Is it private or community space?

5. Will it be a sociable and active place, or a peaceful place? How do I want it to feel?

Family Room

Picking paint colors can be difficult when given too many options, which is always the problem. Start with one color that you want to see in the room and go off of that. I picked a paint color for my family room and even for me being around colors everyday and choosing them for others I had difficulty on my own room. I wanted them all :). I knew I wanted a gray and cream combination. I worked from there and everything just fell into place. It’s always good to have some inspiration too.

Before investing in paint always buy a sample and apply it to two areas in the room, by a window or a door that lets natural light in and on the other side where the light may not hit. You will be able to see if the color changes in different lights and make sure you see it both at night and day. You may think you don’t want to spend the money on the samples but it beats spending money on the gallon and not loving it.

Window Treatments

Window Treatments are an important role when designing a room. Majority of the time you do everything in the room but never finish it because you leave out the windows. It is a hard decision  to decide what treatment should be used. Below are some treatments that I think would be good in certain rooms.
